SEPTA’s 55 Bus Route Cuts & 9 PM Curfew + Reflections on Legacy After Warner, Osbourne, Hogan
Discover the joy of being back in podcasting and dive into pressing Philadelphia transit news, public policy, and legacy reflections.
Join me as I celebrate my return to podcasting and unpack SEPTA’s controversial plan to cut 55 bus routes and impose a 9 PM curfew—what it means for Philadelphia riders, communities, and daily mobility.
In the second half, I reflect on the recent passings of Malcolm‑Jamal Warner, Ozzy Osbourne, and Hulk Hogan to explore the idea of personal legacy.
Because this episode is about more than news—it's about how our words and actions shape the legacy we leave. Reflect on how what you say or do today can echo long after you’re gone.

Hey everyone, my name is Brooke, your fellow podcaster from the East Coast, content creator, creative artist, and entrepreneur, and welcome to my podcast, Blogger with a Twist. So basically on my podcast, doing topics about lifestyle, I may do a couple of rants or story times about my life or whatever comes to mind.
00:33
So if any of you guys find it interesting, definitely share the podcast, subscribe, also tell your friends or family. And last but not least, get your favorite snacks, your popcorn, whatever you like to eat, sit back and relax. And let's get this episode popping. Hey you guys and welcome back to a brand new podcast episode. And hopefully
01:03
you guys out there doing good. So I'm happy to say that I did upload a new episode last week. If you guys have not listened to that episode, definitely check it out after this one. But I'm not going to lie to you guys. I was a little nervous about uploading the episode because it had been.
01:26
over two months since my last episode. I honestly thought it was only maybe like two months exactly. But when I looked at my last upload prior to the one that I did last week, it had been very close to three months since my last episode. And I'm just thinking to myself, Oh my gosh, girl, you are a terrible podcast. Okay, but I am back and I'm definitely
01:56
definitely going to try this time to stay more consistent because I know there are lot of you guys out there that do enjoy my podcast so your girl is trying to you know I'm trying to do better okay but besides that your girl is doing good I did have my interview last week and that went really good I had so much fun so basically
02:25
The kind of interview that I had is called a street interview. I don't know if you guys have ever heard of those type of interviews, but it's basically when somebody goes around and they interview different people walking around on the street. And so I have never done one of those type of interviews until I did last week and I really had a good time. So I will tell you guys more information when the video comes out, but I'm super excited about that.
02:56
And then also for those of guys that live in Philly then I guess you guys know about the whole thing with SEPTA and that they are planning to cut I think about 55 bus routes. And now I'm just thinking to myself well what about people that rely on SEPTA to get to work, get to school and then also I think they are trying to do a 9 p.m curfew.
03:22
For people that work in the evening and make it off after nine o'clock, how do you expect them to get home? So now they probably got to take an Uber or Lyft, which let me tell you, I feel like if you do work for Uber or Lyft right now, or you may be considering wanting to work for Uber or Lyft, I just have a feeling that this would probably be the prime time to do it because a lot of people...
03:49
will probably be using those services. So I'm just saying, it probably is a good time if you want to, make some extra money. Yeah, you know, it does kind of suck for people, like I said, that really depend on SEPTA, but also I think it is a lesson in the fact that...
04:09
for people that do not pay the bus fare, what you guys gonna do now? Because so many times I see people get on the bus, they don't pay the bus fare. I'm just like, ah, just pay the money. Geez Louise. But yeah, besides that, this week's episode, I really wanted to talk about the importance of doing good in this world while you're on this earth, but also,
04:37
What you put into your time on this earth is what you get back. And what really inspired this week's episode is something that happened last week. Because if you guys don't know, last week, three people passed away. I forgot the chronological order, but it was Malcolm Warner Jr. I think that's his name in real life. But he played the character Theo on the Cosby show.
05:06
Next was Ozzy Osbourne and lastly was Hulk Hogan. From what I've seen like online and stuff there are a lot of people that are not upset about Hulk Hogan's passing. So that being said if you guys want to know more then grab your little snackies whatever and let's get this episode popping. More people I feel like was more upset
05:35
about malcolm's passing because of how he died so if you guys don't know i believe he died while on vacation with his family in costa rica and he died from asphyxiation which is basically another word from drowning so it's believed that he was in the water or in the ocean he got like caught up in one of those waves and i guess
06:03
The current was so strong that it kind of like pulled him under and he unfortunately drowned. know, hearing his story is so sad because I cannot imagine being his wife and having to go home without my husband or having to help my child understand why their dad is not coming back. So.
06:27
It's just, like I said, such a horrible way to go, especially your vacation with your family and that's the last thing that you think would ever happen.
06:38
So definitely my heart and condolences goes out to his family and friends because it definitely seemed like, you know, off camera he was a nice person. Even Ozzy Osbourne, even though I wasn't like a huge fan of Ozzy Osbourne, I still knew who he was. I believe he had been sick for a couple years battling some type of disease or something. So honestly, I feel like his
07:08
passing wasn't too much of a surprise because I feel like when it comes to death if the person is already sick and has been suffering the death doesn't hurt as bad but if it's something like in Malcolm's case where he wasn't really sick and unfortunately he died from a freak accident I just feel like it makes the death harder to accept
07:35
And then as far as Hulk Hogan, I think he died of cardiac arrest, which is basically a heart attack. I think he was like 70 something. And so, like I said before, a lot of people are rejoicing his death because for those of you guys that did not know.
07:58
Unfortunately, Hulk Hogan was out really a racist and he definitely did not like black people. If you guys remember a couple years back, I think in like the late 2000s, like around 2007 or something like that, an audio tape had leaked of him basically calling black people the N word with the hard R because
08:24
I think he had found out that his daughter Brooke was dating a black guy and so I guess for him he felt like well she was going to date a black N word that he'd rather him be a basketball player or make a lot of money versus one that is broke or doesn't make a lot of money. And so when that came out
08:49
I think a lot of people were shocked, especially a lot of people that looked up to Hulk Hogan and the wrestling spectrum and stuff like that. And so I remember, I think he came on like Good Morning America or something like that and made a public apology. But I just find it so interesting that even after all that time, people still remember what he said to his death. Well, it's not really a surprise, but
09:18
I would think that you would have a little bit more courtesy to somebody that just passed away. But at the same time, if you live your life with so much hatred for people that really did nothing to you, I just feel like you kind of get what's coming to you. And look, I'm not coming on this podcast to bash Hulk Hogan because that's not really my platform.
09:46
But the stuff that is happening to him just really made me realize that what you do on this earth can really impact the legacy that you leave behind. Like for me, if I had a choice of what type of legacy I would want to leave behind, I would want people to know me as being a nice person, inspirational, motivational, not somebody that was a racist.
10:11
I also seen some videos of people making fun of the fact that when Hulk Hogan went to his judgment day, like his spirit, he realized that God was black and the angels were black. And I'm just like, y'all need to let this man rest in peace. Like I get it. He was a racist and he probably wasn't a nice person. But at end of the day, he is still a person. He did die. And I feel like
10:38
His family does deserve a little bit of peace because I had read somewhere online that his family is like upset, which is definitely not a nice thing to say after somebody just passed, even if it is the truth. And then, you know, we look at Malcolm that played Theo on a Cosby show. You don't really hear anything negative about him. I think he like kept his life kind of private.
11:06
which honestly is nothing wrong with that. I feel like people.
11:11
forget that celebrities are real people that have real lives and they do not always want all their information like aired out to the world. So the fact that he did, you know, keep some things of his life private, I definitely respect that. And so that's why I said a message of this episode is that when it comes to his life and to this world, you don't know when your last day is going to be and I've said this before, it could be today. It could be tomorrow. It could be next
11:41
month like you really never know every thing that you do you try to stay positive show love and kindness to others have a good heart and most importantly live your life to the fullest with no regrets
12:02
you don't want to live a life of what ifs and oh I wish I could have done this because once that moment is over nine times out of ten you cannot get that moment back and so it's important that while you're in that moment or all the moments that you have throughout your lifetime that
12:23
You give it a hundred percent and you try to be the best person that you can be because sometimes the things that you say and stuff like that can come back to bite you in behind years later. So that being said, hopefully you guys enjoyed this episode. You enjoyed the message of this episode and just remember that be careful what you say in this lifetime.
12:53
try to stay positive. I know sometimes
12:58
It's hard to stay positive in this world where you have so much negativity surrounding you, but it is really important that you stay true to yourself and you do not let the outside get you down. So thank you guys again for listening. Thank you again for coming back for another episode and definitely check out last week's episode and I will talk to you guys in my next one. Peace.
