Speaker 1:

Hey you guys, my name is Brooke and welcome to my podcast Blogger with a twist, and I am your host and the creator. So basically, on my podcast I'll mainly be talking about things relating to lifestyle, anything from me ranting about my life or anything I see on social media that I want to talk about, or whatever. If you guys find that interesting, then subscribe, share my podcast with your family, friends or whoever you know that enjoy listening to podcasts, sit back, relax, get your little snackies, whatever you like to eat, and let's get this episode popping. Well, well, well, you guys, I first want to say happy 2024. And for my people that are newly first time listeners to my podcast, welcome. And for people that have been listening to me and probably wondered where I have been, I'm sorry, but your girl is back. I believe my last episode was on October 6th of 2023. So it's been probably almost five months since my last episode and I know that sounds kind of crazy. Like girl, where have you been? Like, you have been out of podcasting for almost half a year. Look, I know I figured that I would do an update episode and give you guys all of the tea what's been going on in my life, because I feel like since my last episode, there have been some changes. So, like I say in my intro, get your little snackies and let's dive into this episode. So for this episode, I had to write down everything in my little handy dandy notebook because I felt like if I didn't, if I didn't write it down, I would forget it. You know, it's been so long since I made an episode, I had to make sure I was prepared for you guys.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so the first thing I'll be talking about is what I did for my birthday and just my thoughts about turning 33 last year. So, for people that don't know, my birthday is on November, the 9th yes, team Scorpio. And basically, for my 33rd birthday last year, I really did not want to do anything too big to grand. I wanted to keep things simple. So, since my birthday did fall on a weekday, which I believe was a Thursday, my boyfriend and I went out to dinner that evening to the Cheesecake Factory yes, I see it at the Cheesecake Factory and after dinner we went to go see a movie called the Marvels, which is a movie that I wanted to see, and I really enjoyed the movie. And that was pretty much it for my birthday. As far as the weekend of my birthday, I didn't. I didn't do anything the weekend because, like I said, I didn't really plan on doing a whole bunch of stuff. As far as my gifts, I got a necklace from my boyfriend with my name on it, and I also got a cupcake, and I got a new phone that came with a smartwatch. I got the Galaxy S23 phone, if you guys are wondering, and also got a gift card from one of my best friends, from the store that she works at, which is Torrid. So you know, I didn't do too bad for gifts for my birthday. And as far as my thoughts about turning 33, to be honest with you guys, I am just so blessed and happy that I have been allowed to make it another year. I'm just so happy that I don't have any health complications and I can still continue to live my life. So the best birthday gift that I got this well, the best birthday gift that I got last year was just being able to see another birthday and being healthy and being able to spend the time with the people that I care about the most. So that was pretty much my birthday. You know? Spielge.

Speaker 1:

Okay, the next thing I'll be talking about is the update with my blog. So, as of right now, you guys, I am renovating my blog Once again. I'm actually designing my blog from scratch in a way. So this process has been quite tedious and it's very annoying because I feel like I have like little OCD when it comes to me doing things and I just wanted to look a certain way. So it's been a lot of back and forth for me, overthinking things because I just wanted to be perfect and I know sometimes when you overthink things, it can sometimes make the situation worse. So I'm trying not to overthink the process, but I will say that I'm very proud of how the blog is looking so far. So if you guys still want to check out my blog, you can. All my links are in the description. But that is pretty much the update with the blog. I am just redesigning it from scratch and it has definitely been a process nonetheless.

Speaker 1:

Next update is with the podcast.

Speaker 1:

So I don't know if you guys noticed anything different, but I did record a new intro and a new outro and I have new music. So one of my coworkers he actually makes beats and he made me a custom beat for my podcast and it is so dope and I really love it and I'm just so happy, you guys. So that's the update with the podcast, and then the last update is about my health. So a couple weeks ago well, probably not a couple weeks ago, about a month and a half ago I went to my primary doctor to get a physical. Mind you, I hadn't had a physical in probably like four, five, maybe six years, and so when I first went in I was nervous because I mean, granted, nobody likes going to a doctor, nobody likes going to a dentist, because you're always scared that something may come up. And so the first time I went to my new primary doctor, she told me that my blood pressure was a little high and it wasn't high enough to where I need to be a medication, but it's still something that she wants me to work on.

Speaker 1:

And the second time I went back to my primary doctor, my blood pressure was still a little high, and with my doctor, she likes to take it three times just to make sure, like I don't need to be a medication or anything like that. So the third time when I was supposed to go back, I actually tested positive for COVID. So I had to isolate for like five days, and if you guys are new to the podcast then you guys don't know that this is probably. No, this is my third time getting COVID OK, like COVID has got me three times OK, but your girl has fought it every time. So when I finally was clear, I went back to my doctor's office the third time to get some blood work.

Speaker 1:

So when I got my blood results, about a week after that or two weeks, come to find out my blood sugar is a little high and my doctor wants me to eat more healthy or good fast, like avocados and salmon. So it did kind of like scare me a little bit because I do not want to be diabetic and, from what I've heard, people that do have diabetes. It can be a struggle. It can be a struggle sometimes, so I just don't want to put my body in that situation. So since then I've been trying to Get better with my carbon take because personally, you guys, I do not eat a lot of candy, I don't really drink soda, I don't really drink juice, I drink water about 95 percent of the time. So I know for me the main culprit is carbs, like I love rice, I love pasta, but the problem with that is sometimes, if you have it too much, it can affect your blood sugar, because if you really think about it, once your body breaks down, rice is basically sugar.

Speaker 1:

So what I've been doing is not really trying to eliminate carbs, because that's just not realistic for me. I'm just trying to put them in moderation and instead have more vegetables and more whole grains like quinoa. You know, I'm just trying to do things that will help me get out of the pre-diabetic stage, because I feel like getting this diagnosis, getting this diagnosis I cannot say the word Getting this diagnosis, is it called diagnostic or diagnosis? Ok, so getting this diagnosis, let me know that I do have a chance to change my eating habits. Diabetes Well, I said diabetes, but the fact that I am pre-diabetic means that I can reverse the effects so that I'm not diabetic.

Speaker 1:

So that's why I'm trying to take this chance to really work on my eating habits and just eating more vegetables, because I feel like for the past months I'll be honest with you guys I have just been eating carb on top of carb and barely any vegetables. And it's crazy because I do like vegetables. It's just I got to a point where I just didn't want. I just kind of stopped eating vegetables, and that's not really good, you know, if you're just constantly eating carbs and no vegetables, you know. You know no balance, no moderation, because I feel like even when you're eating things that are healthy, you shouldn't overdo them. So I think that's why it's so important that you keep the mindset of doing things in moderation.

Speaker 1:

Hopefully, what I'm doing will make a positive impact on my health and hopefully, when I go back to see my primary doctor in May, that my blood sugar is lower and I'm not considered a pre-diabetic, no more and hopefully my blood pressure is down as well. I just don't want any complications with my health. You know. I just want to try to stay as healthy and live as long as I can, because I feel like I just have so much more things I want to do on this earth before it's my time to go. So that's really my whole thing right now is just getting my health together and making better choices. So do not worry you guys, your girl is still around. Okay, I just have to take care of myself and make sure I'm doing what is good for me.

Speaker 1:

And also one more thing I wanted to say. I totally forgot. So for those of you guys that don't know, I am a huge fan of Korean dramas. I believe I made an episode talking about how I even got started with watching Korean dramas. So the one that I recently finished with my boyfriend is called Mary my husband, and it is on Amazon Prime. And no, I'm not getting sponsored, I wish I was. So, amazon, if you listen to my podcast episode, please contact me.

Speaker 1:

You know I'm just saying but Mary, my husband, when I tell you that Korean drama, okay, it starts off with drama, I mean, it's a Korean drama, so what do you expect? Okay, but basically, the story is about this girl that has terminal cancer and she finds out that her man has been cheating on her with her best friend and her, basically her, no, her husband, actually Her husband. Well, she know her, like I said, with her best friend, her other half, come to find out while she was in the hospital getting chemo treatment. He was not even paying the medical bills for her to stay in there and then she had to find her way back to the house because she had to leave the hospital because she you know, she couldn't afford to stay because of the bills. And then, when she get home, she found her other half in the big with her man and then her man. Then her man ends up killing her because he pushes her into a glass table and she dies. But then she is able to somehow come back 10 years Before she died to kind of like rewrite her future so she don't marry her trifling behind husband, because I believe she died in April April 13th 2023 and then she went back to April 13th 2013. So when she goes back, of course she's kind of you know, she's like spooked and screaming because, mind you, she just died and now she back ten years earlier.

Speaker 1:

So, yes, it's just a good show and I don't know what it is about Korean dramas where the main character gets revenge, but I love it because it's like that's what y'all get. You should have never done that to that person because karma is a BITCH. But if you have an Amazon Prime account, definitely check out. Marry my husband. If it don't, try to borrow somebody's Amazon Prime account or try to find it on YouTube. I don't know, and I think that is all of my updates for this episode. If I missed anything, I'll probably talk about it in another episode. Definitely, you guys.

Speaker 1:

It feels kind of weird to be back podcasting because I feel like I've been going for like a year, I mean, granted, my last episode was near the end of 2023 soon.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know it's been a minute, it's been a hot minute since I made an episode, but I am definitely hopeful for the future and you know I'm planning to make this year my year and I really want to Work full-time as a podcaster and content creator and blogger like that is really my dream and I Guess that's it. You guys, I don't know what else to say to this episode, but I am so sorry that I abandoned you guys for so long. But, like I said, I am back and Welcome to all of my new listeners and if you have not listened to my other episodes, definitely check it out and Welcome back you guys. So, you guys, that will conclude this week's episode. If you enjoyed it, like I say in my intro, definitely subscribe, share the podcast. If you have any questions or inquiries, all of my information is in the description box of every episode and, other than that, you guys, stay blessed, stay positive, be safe and peace.
