Speaker 1:

Hello you guys, my name is Brooke and welcome to my podcast. Blogger with a twist. So I know what you guys may be thinking what are you going to be talking about on your podcast? So on my podcast you guys can find a range of topics about lifestyle, maybe some rants or even story times about my life or whatever. So if that sounds interesting, then definitely do not forget to subscribe. Tell your family, to your friends, to your mama, to your grandma, about my podcast and, last but not least, sit back, relax, get your snacks, your pizza, whatever you like to eat, and let's get this episode. Hey you guys, and welcome back to another episode.

Speaker 1:

And I know, I know I did not come out with an episode Last week and I am so sorry. I just had to kind of focus my attention on other things. I had to do some work on my blog and and I kind of been Neglecting my blog for at least two months, and I know I'm a terrible blogger. So I've just been trying to get back into the rhythm of blogging and kind of fell off with posting on Pinterest consistently. So I've been trying to get back with that and I also did get a jar of Unrefined coconut oil, or those of you guys that were wondering, especially if you listened to my last episode about oil pulling for your teeth and then what else?

Speaker 1:

I did have some drama at my job. You know, it's always Drama at my job. Basically, to sum it up, this guy who I Really thought kind of look like Kanye West okay, so Kanye West look alike was causing havoc at my job. He was throwing chairs and he knocked over a couple things and it got to the point that one of my co-workers that was working with me she was visibly shaking, like her hand was shaking. And then another customer that happened to be in Starbucks at the time of this incident was crying and For some reason, you guys, I just was not scared, okay, I guess in my mind, maybe because I was about to get my period and I was a little hormonal and I was already kind of fed up with this wannabe Kanye West look alike. I just thought, if he tries to hop over this counter and attack me, okay, it's going to be WWE smackdown all up in Starbucks. I'm what I'm gonna have to get. The bottle of bleach, the hot water, the coffee earn like, look, everything behind this bar is a weapon you I don't know, like maybe it's because I've been working at Starbucks for so long and I've seen the type of things that have been, and it's really sad because a lot of these people that start drama at specific location that I work at, they either have a mental issue and they don't get the help or they don't have nowhere to go and unfortunately they just come to our location and start trouble. But yes, you guys, your girl was about to get WWE Smackdown on us, looking like a Kanye West. But anyway, besides that today's episode, I thought that I would give you guys an update about the podcast Networking Event that I talked a little bit about in my last episode that my boyfriend and I attended, and then also the latest update with my merch, and I am super excited about that. So if you guys want to know more, you guys know the drill get your little popcorn or whatever snacks that you like and let's get this episode popping.

Speaker 1:

So, starting off with the podcast event, it was on Tuesday, september 12th, from 7pm to 12. And it was at this restaurant, slash bar, here in Philly I don't remember the name of the place. Good thing for my boyfriend and I it was not that far from my house. So the day of the event, my boyfriend ended up coming over to my house using Uber or Lyft because, like I said, the place was not that far from my house and thankfully my mom did let me use her car so we could actually drive to the restaurant. We got to the place, I want to say, around like 720 ish, and I'm not going to lie to you guys, I was a little nervous because I did not want to be like super late because, even though this was a networking event for podcasters, my boyfriend was also performing his music, so I did not want him to miss his time slot or anything like that, but thankfully he didn't and, funny enough, I believe that my boyfriend was one of the only artists to actually be on time out of the other artists that performed, but I'll talk more about that in the story.

Speaker 1:

So, like I said, we got there around like 720 ish and I did feel a little nervous, and I think that's just because anytime I go into a new environment where I don't know the people, I'm always a little nervous, but eventually, after a little bit of time, I do start to warm up. It's just, you know, I got to fill out the environment after I started not feeling so nervous, I want to say right, almost two hours later at this point it's after nine o'clock I was kind of getting a little tired because I wanted the podcast portion to start and I just felt like it was dragging on and on. But eventually they did start the podcasting portion of the event, so they had about four to five different podcasters sitting up on stage just talking about their experience and her podcast and how they got started. And I will say that one of the podcasters I really resonated with her story when she was talking about how, when she first started podcasting, she was nervous because she did not know how people was going to perceive her podcast or if people was going to like it. One of the things she said that really made me realize that I still want to keep podcasting is when she said that her podcast is not for everybody and when she said that you know. It just confirmed to me just so much more that you cannot make everybody happy. There are going to be some people that is going to like my podcast and some people that, and some people that and some people that's not going to like it, just like you have some people that like certain types of music and some that do not. The type of podcast that I do is the style that I enjoy doing and I'm not trying to compete or compare my podcast with other podcasters. So that was some really insightful information. And then there was another woman on stage just talking about how to make money as a podcaster, as far as getting sponsorships and even for music artists, how to reach out to different sponsorships and getting their music into different commercials and TV shows and movies.

Speaker 1:

I want to say that segment of the event happened. It went on for at least about an hour and a half, okay, so by that time it was getting close to 11 o'clock and I was more hungry, so was my boyfriend, and we were both tired at this point. Finally, after 11 o'clock, my boyfriend did get a chance to perform his two songs, and I was so happy that he went first because I was ready to go home. So after he performed he did talk to some people in the room, people just just, you know, complimenting him on his music, and then we eventually left. So when we left we had to go to the gas station. So we got some gas in the car and then I had to drop off the car back to my house. So after we dropped off the car, we went to his house and, mind you, we did not get to his house until after one o'clock in the morning and we ended up ordering Wendy's because we were so hungry.

Speaker 1:

Now, granted, like I said, the event was at a restaurant, bar, and they had food. But when I asked somebody at the event how was the food here, her answer did not really convince me that I wanted to try the food. So that's when I decided in my head that I'm just going to wait until my boyfriend and I leave here and then we're going to get some food, because initially my boyfriend and I had planned to leave the place around, you know, 10, 30 at the latest. Okay, so I wasn't expecting to get to his house after one o'clock in the morning and, mind you, we both had to work next day, meaning Wednesday, at like seven or eight o'clock in the morning. So when I went into work on Wednesday I was super tired, I was out of it, I just mentally was not at work. And if you guys are wondering, yes, my boyfriend and I both work at Starbucks. That is how we met, if I have not already said that.

Speaker 1:

But yes, you guys, overall I had a good time at the event, but I just felt like it was a little unorganized, and I hate to say this. Okay, but it was a little ghetto. Okay, and I'm not going to sit up here and say that I've never been late to anything, but I feel like, if there's something regarding your career, your passion, your dream, shouldn't you, shouldn't you be on time for that? The fact that the other artists that performed were almost two hours late and, on top of that, these artists, including my boyfriend, paid to perform, because unless you're on that level of an artist like Jay-Z or something, where you do not have to pay to perform and you are getting paid to perform, then I feel like you need to be on time. That's just my personal opinion. But, like I said, it was a good event. I got a lot of information out of the event. I just wish it wasn't so ghetto and unorganized, okay. And then the last thing I'll be talking about is the update with my merch, and I am so excited about that.

Speaker 1:

So, as a lot of you guys know, I sell my designs on Redbubble and I've been using Redbubble now for about two and a half years, and I do like using Redbubble, but for the past couple of weeks I've been thinking about expanding and using different printing companies, specifically ones that are in United States, since I do live in United States, and so I started doing some research and I decided to sign up for Printify. And so three of the reasons well, maybe not three, but some of the reasons why I decided to go with Printify is number one they provide printing services or printing companies based in United States. Number two I can actually order samples of my designs just to have, or even if I'm doing or going to an event, I can have samples of my designs already in hand. Number three I wanted more control over my designs and stuff like that. And then the last reason why is because of sizing options, because I know with Redbubble, I believe the biggest size is that their hoodies go up to is a two or three X, and since you know hoodie season is here, I wanted to have more options for hoodies for people that may want like a four X hoodie or five X.

Speaker 1:

And then also one last thing I wanted to add as far as my reason for signing up with Prince of Phi.

Speaker 1:

I heard and I've read and seen videos People who have used or are still using Prince of Phi and have said that when it comes to deliveries and stuff like that, prince of Phi is really good, and for me, that is another huge plus, because nothing is worse than a customer ordering something from you and the order keeps getting delayed or they're not getting the stuff on time, or even, or even, or even when you order something for yourself and you are constantly waiting to get that item or whatever, and it seems like it's never going to get delivered to you.

Speaker 1:

And so, yeah, other than that, you guys, I am super excited about this new update. So if you do live in United States, you can still buy things from me using my online Redbubble shop, but if you want more options for sizes or anything like that, you can go to my blog and go to my shop page and buy the items directly from my blog. To make it a little bit easier, all of my links are in the description, and if you guys would like me to place your order and you live in United States, or even if you live in, or even if you live outside of us, definitely send me an email which is my twisted blogger designs at gmailcom. All of that is in the description and other than that, hopefully you guys enjoyed this episode. So, without further ado, you guys, have a great day, a great weekend and until my next episode, peace.
