Here's a glimpse of my recent adventures - from discovering a standout superhero movie, Blue Beetle, to finding a hair hack that's a game-changer for textured hair like mine. Tune in as I rave about the enjoyable ride that Blue Beetle was, why it should be next on your watch list, and the hilariously memorable character that became my favorite. But wait, there's more! I'll also walk you through a hair routine revelation I unearthed on TikTok. Layering mousse and gel, who would've thought? This trick offers the perfect blend of volume and definition, a total lifesaver for those battling humidity-induced frizz. And just in time for the changing seasons, I've got new merch – all ready for fall and Halloween.

Though we're having a ball with these updates, there is a serious matter close to my heart that needs our attention. The issue of racially motivated crimes is an ugly reality that we can't afford to ignore. A devastating incident in Florida has rekindled this discussion and today, I lend my voice to it. Let's talk about unity, about love, about the need to see beyond colors. My heart aches for the families affected by this horrific act, and I remind you and myself that our journey against racism and prejudice is far from over. Let's use this conversation as a step towards change, towards a world where we see each other for who we are - beautiful human beings. Stand with me, and let's make a difference.

Hello you guys, my name is Brooke and welcome to my podcast. Blogger with a twist. So I know what you guys may be thinking what are you going to be talking about on your podcast? Speaker 1:

Hey you guys, and it's your girl, brooke, and I am back with a new episode, and I know, I know I took another sporadic hiatus. It's just a lot has been going on. I got some bad news in the past couple weeks and then this week my energy levels have been like up and down. Outflow made her monthly visit starting last week, so she is still wrecking havoc on my uterus, but besides that I am doing good. I'm still working at Starbucks and I still got some customers getting on my nerves, but hopefully you guys out there have been doing good. So for this week's episode I wanted to share with you all my latest updates, so that will include the latest movie that I saw, which is Blue Beetle. Something different I did with my hair. I tried a different combo, so if you do have naturally curly or textured hair, you might find what I have to say interesting. And then, lastly, your girl did release some new merch for the fall and Halloween season. So if you guys want to know more, then grab your little snackies or whatever and let's get this episode.

Speaker 1:

So, starting off about the blue beetle movie, prior to seeing the movie, I had no idea about the blue beetle character. I never read any of the comics and so, coming into the movie, I was excited, especially from the previews I had saw. But also I didn't know what to expect because, like I said, I've never read any of the comics about this specific character. And so, anyway, last Saturday it was my boyfriend, his godson and I, and we went to go see the movie, and I have to say that I really enjoyed the movie. I already told my boyfriend that when I get paid again, we are going to see it again, because that is how much I enjoyed the movie. I felt like the graphics were really cool, the action scenes were good, it was funny, and by far my favorite character in the movie was Nana Abuela. Like, look, she reminded me of a Latin version of Medea. Okay, she was one of those grandmoms that you do not mess with, okay. And then, besides Nana being my favorite character out of the movie, besides the blue beetle character, there were some scenes in the movie that made me get my get my tears, my crocodile tears, out. That really made me sad. I'm not going to tell you guys what it is, especially for those of you guys that have not seen the movie, but I would definitely recommend to go see the movie. Whether you've read the comics or you are just curious about the movie, I feel like, in my opinion, it was worth going to see and it was the bombcom.

Speaker 1:

Then the next update is my latest hair combo. When it comes to my natural hair, I like to alternate between using a mousse and a foam or a gel. Now, the problem with me using a mousse or a gel a mousse or a gel is that they both do different things for my hair. So if I was to use a mousse or a foam, I would get a lot of body and volume, but my hair would only last for maybe like three days, especially if it's really hot and humid outside. Versus, if I use a gel, especially like a stronghold gel, I get longer days, even if my hair is not as voluminous as if I was using mousse.

Speaker 1:

And so a couple of days ago I was scrolling through TikTok and I had came across some videos of people with curly or textured hair talking about how they like to layer mousse and gel on their hair. And so when I saw the videos in my head I was thinking maybe my hair it might be too heavy, because for my hair, because I have finer hair strands, and if you have fine hair strand, then then you know that Putting too much product on it it can weigh it down. So I was kind of like iffy if I should layer a mousse and a gel. I know there are some people that do gel first and then mousse and vice versa. But then I also read that Both of both of them have like different outcomes. So if you want your hair to have more weight to it and to be more like elongated, would put the mousse in the gel, but if you want more volume, then you would do the gel, then the mousse, because the gel, because jails are typically like heavier products.

Speaker 1:

So this week I decided to co-wash my hair and I decided to give it a try. I did the gel, then the mousse, because I want definition, but I also Want volume. So I want the benefit of the hold from the gel, but the volume from the styling mousse. And so I have to say, you guys, okay, that my hair came out really good this week. I have to say that it is so defined and it's not flat as if I was just using a gel, like I really like it. You guys, I Don't know if I'm going to try, like, switch it around and try using mousse first and then gel. I don't know, but I'm definitely liking the gel and then the mousse. So if you have textured hair and you're trying to Fight frizz, fight humidity, I would highly recommend trying to layer on a gel, then a mousse or a mousse than a gel. But make sure that the products are not only moisturizing but they do contain properties to help combat humidity if you do live in a humid climate. But yeah, you guys, I think I have found a new way to style my head and I don't know why I did not think of doing this sooner. But you know, you live and you learn.

Speaker 1:

And then the last thing that I want to mention is my latest Merch designs for the fall and Halloween season. Speaker 1:

And then the last thing that I do want to say really quickly is that I'm pretty sure a lot of you guys have heard about the tragedy in Florida, about the racially motivated shooting at the Dollar General. Um, I just want to give my condolences to the families of the victims. You know, it's so sad that even in 2023, there's still so much hatred for black people and other minorities. The fact that this 21 year old man has so much hatred for black people that he chose to end the lives of three innocent people that were just going to the store. And it's so sad, because how many times do we go to the store and just thinking, okay, we're just going to pick up something, not thinking that the minute that we are walking into the store is going to be our last day on this earth? It's just so heartbreaking. You know, like, why do so many people have so much hate in their heart, especially for people that did nothing to them. This coward, okay, decided to end his life after taking the lives of three innocent people. Like what was the point of you killing these people if you was going to take the easy way out and kill yourself in the end? But I don't know, you guys, you know it's just. It's just a tragedy, and you know this.

Speaker 1:

Racially motivated crimes and stuff is not nothing new in this country. It has been happening for years and centuries and it definitely needs to change and needs to stop. And we need to stop judging people on the color of their skin and just see each other as human beings and as the way God made us, because, at the end of the day, no matter what skin color you are, we all bleed the same way. Like I said before, if you all enjoyed this episode, let me know, and I am sorry for my lateness. I'm going to try to get back on a better schedule, so I'm not taking these sporadic hiatuses. So you all have a great day, a great weekend and until my next episode, peace.
